Tackling Waste Through Circularity: Biomass

Throughout SD Guthrie’s upstream and downstream processes, various types of biomass by-products are produced such as empty fruit bunches (EFB), mesocarp fibre (MF) and palm kernel shells (PKS). These biomasses are utilised for mulching in our estates, and as biofuels for our mill’s energy generation. In line with our continued efforts to valorise biomass resources, we are exploring the feasibility for converting the biomass resources into potential energy or high-value, sustainable products, and other potential opportunities for advancing our sustainability goals.
